Cornwall Hedge i

This is a multi layered monoprint printed into a wooden block. It is a companion to Cornwall Hedge ii. It’s subject is the same and they have been printed at the same time as each other using many of the same mixed colours. The inspiration for these two prints was a particularly bountiful and beautiful hedge I came across whilst walking part of the coastal path near to Newquay. Again, my desire in making these prints was to explore and exploit the qualities of printing on wood. I have found that the beauty of printing on wood is that it allows for multiple layers to be printed with no deterioration to the wood and this multi layered approach gives a very fine and subtle print.
